Use it to make: Pizza My Way
This pizza crust finally gives me something to really cheer about!! Although I love homemade pizza, I don't love making the pizza dough. Sometimes, you just want to pull out a store bought crust and make a pizza in 5 minutes. And now we can.
When I was recently shopping at Target online, I somehow came across this product. I told myself, "don't get excited." It probably isn't kosher. I have seen kosher pizza crusts in Target before -- but they were always in the SuperTarget in Florida, or Arizona. Never in my local New York Target. And besides, they were always high in sodium, so it didn't even matter. Well, it turns out I hit the jackpot on this one. It had an OU and it's low in sodium.
I did a little research, looking up the Good & Gather brand, and discovered that this was a relatively new in-house Target brand, that was available online at Target.com and in-stores. It rolled out in September 2019, replacing Target’s existing Archer Farms and Simply Balanced brands. The Market Pantry brand is also being phased out, or at least reducing the number of product lines under it. I am guessing, as per usual, my local New York Target was late to the game with the Good & Gather line. Add in Corona, and I think that is why I just saw this now.
Either way, I am super excited to use this with my LoSo Pizza Sauce, and any of the toppings that I load onto my pizza for a GREAT low sodium and easy pizza option going forward. One whole crust would only be 115 mg of sodium!!! Once you add in the pizza sauce and toppings, you could keep this under 300 mg easy, even with some cheese.
This crust is so thin, you could probably also use this as a wrap by slicing it in half and rolling it up with your favorite wrap selections. I am also thinking of croutons as a possibility here or pita chips. One thing at a time though!
There are so many positives to this product, I almost don't know what to be more excited about first. It's Pareve, inexpensive, easily available, and easy to use. The Kosher Supervision is extremely reliable from the Orthodox Union. And of course, it's Low Sodium! This is like a once in a lifetime find (well, at least I hope it's not!)
